There are many ways in which a person can help make a difference in someone’s life. Although we at Project Difference strive to help out as many people as we can, the truth is - We cannot get to everyone. That’s where you come in! Think about this. Remember that old saying, “Treat others as you would want to be treated”? Well, that’s exactly where you can start! If you’ve ever been in a situation in which you wished someone could have at least offered a hand, then you should know how others might be feeling when they’re in a similar situation. Whether it be a stalled vehicle on the side of a road, or just a nice compliment to a stranger that just needs some positivity in their day, anything can help make a difference in someone’s life if you would just take a little bit of time out of your day to see what you can do to assist that person. See, what happens a lot these days is something that’s called the “Bystander Effect”, which means that if someone is in need of help in a public place with lots of other people present, a person is less likely to do something to help the individual in need because they may have the opinion that someone will eventually help that person. That’s a huge issue today because a lot of those times, nobody ends up doing anything for the person in need since everyone starts practicing that same mindset. This is where you can step up to the plate and be the change! If you have nothing else scheduled, and you’re driving and see someone on the side of the road, then at least try to take a few minutes out of your day to offer a hand to see what the problem is. Take action if you see that someone seems down, and just say hi, or ask them how their day is! Don’t be afraid to step up, because sometimes all it could take an action so small on your end, that could make a world of a difference in someone’s life for the better. Keep in mind – Not one person can do everything, but everyone can do something. If we all start doing our part, the world will become a much better place and we will start seeing that all around us.
